  I've loved this place for years- the croissants are amazing, the service is usually great, and overall this was my favorite location- until today.
  Today there was a hair in my French toast. Fortunately I saw it before taking a bite and was spared that experience. Since we had already waited 40 min. for a table and needed to get to an appointment there wasn't time to wait for them to fix it (not sure I could've stomached it either) so I passed on a replacement. I watched everyone eat while I finished my tea then paid for everyone else (friend's birthday). I was shocked to see they didn't comp a single thing- not even my tea- not even a croissant- that added to the fact I never received an apology.
  I had an order messed up slightly at a pizza joint earlier this week, we were still able to eat it, but they comped the whole thing, and I was apologized to by a very responsive manager.
  Apparently the more you pay- the less they accept mistakes or try to make it right? There was a HAIR in my food and no apology even, no follow up by anyone. I guess I should be grateful I didn't discover it in my mouth and that they took it away (after my sister verified what I had already said to the waiter and pointed out the dark curled hair sticking out of the batter on the toast)?
  Look your food over carefully- no one wants to experience that.
  If it happens to you be sure to take a picture of it before they take it away; that may encourage them to be more responsive.

  This place looks like it should be awesome. So much so that I've tried it several times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast is just ok. The menu items sound fancy but they don't actually taste very good. For dinner the mixed drinks were weak and there were 2 whole small plates that we took a bite of and didn't eat. Service is generally ok unless you are there during peak brunch hours. I do enjoy their iced tea and the croissants served with brie and jam. Overall this place is a novelty.

  This is my favorite breakfast place in Portland. Amazing coffee, terrific pastries and well executed dishes. The baked eggs dish is my personal favorite, but they've also got great corned beef hash too. Breakfast comes with a croissant with brie and jam before your meal arrives. We've come here probably 30 times over the years and have never been disappointed with the food. The only drawback is that they could stand to have a more pleasant wait staff. They're not rude, but they are not engaging either. They also have outdoor seating available.

  Great breakfast and brunch, our family walks here on weekends sometimes. The service is always very good also. Beware that there is typically a 30 - 45 minute wait on weekend mornings, come early or on a weekday if you don't want to be stuck holding the pager thing.
